You're Probably Using LinkedIn Wrong

When your business has a social media platform, especially if it's LinkedIn, the quality of your connections is more important than the quantity.

Here's why:

As humans, our brains can maintain approximate 250 active social connections at any one time, and only 15 as our “immediate tribe or family.” A very broad network only truly offers weak connections.

So what's a better way to use LinkedIn?

Follow the 10:4:1 rule of thumb:

  • 10: Re-broadcast 10 pieces of other people’s content that your connections will find relevant or interesting.
  • 4: Initiate and promote 4 pieces of content that you’ve created/written/commissioned/etc.
  • 1: Directly promote one sales offer.
