I Think I've Forgotten This Before
By leadingresults on Oct 2, 2015 3:46:00 PM
Another lesson from the Inbound 2015 conference, compliments of Dr. Carmen Simon in her "Is Your Content Forgettable?" session.
It doesn’t matter how we forget, or even why – it just matters that we DO.
How much? 90% of what we see, hear, and read.
So what do you want them to remember? What is the most important 10% of your message?
Decide that and then do something to grab their attention, because attention paves the way to memory. So how do you grab their attention? Link your content to something they already know, and then BOOM, throw in the new stuff you want them to remember.
But since you’ll forget 90% of this email, let’s distill it down to this:
At least 10% of your content better be amazing.

Yes, You Need a Marketing Calendar
By leadingresults on Sep 11, 2015 6:17:00 AM
Quality content is an important part of getting and keeping your customers' interest, and you know that.
But does it seem like you never have time? Or that you have great content in your head but don't know where or when to release it?
It's time to build a marketing calendar. What your calendar should include, of course, depends on your business, but here are a few ideas:
- A content timeline.
- Christmas blogs in June? It could work, but you should plan for it.
- A designation of who will be in charge of finding or creating the content.
- Will it always be the same person, or will several people share the duty?
- A schedule of when the content will be published.
- Current best practices are to publish things consistently - every Tuesday at 2:00, for example.
- A list of places where the content will be published.
- On your blog? In an email? On social media?
If you aren't consistent with your content, it won't matter how amazing its quality is, so use a marketing calendar to organize and prioritize your content creation and distribution.

Those triggers offer a marketing and/or sales opportunity based on something that is happening in a customer's life.
What types of events can be triggers?
- holidays
- life events - birthdays, marriages, relocations, new jobs, etc.
- new behaviors - opens a new bank account, purchases life insurance, etc.
- new product releases
