One of the most critical things you can do is defining your purpose. Once you’ve nailed it, your purpose will provide a roadmap for the ride ahead.
A clear business purpose keeps your business focused on its mission; target markets and helps management identify new markets for expansion. You need to understand your market, and also define why your business exists. Know your business goals and how big you want your business to grow.
Purpose driven marketing is important in small business growth because each business can be very different from the next. Two similar businesses can look at the same market, be the same size in industry but should have an entirely different purpose and goal.
Create an authentic position, and ask yourself the following questions:
- What will my business be known for?
- What will customers say about my business?
- What do we do that nobody in our industry is doing?
- How can we create a totally unique customer experience?
